Thanksgiving Day is a wonderful holiday for all to gather and enjoy one another's company over a hearty meal. Keep those conversations flowing by creating a welcoming table that invites everyone in. Have your table dressed for the occasion with these beautiful Thanksgiving table setting ideas.

Personalized Place Cards

Create and design your own place cards for each guest. Use your own handwriting or even a label maker to make each place card. Once completed, make a small hole on the side of the card and use twine to tie the card to a small gourd, a pumpkin, an apple or even to a pear. Place at each person's table setting to indicate the seating arrangement.

Contrasting Color Schemes

Make your Thanksgiving Day table pop by using contrasting colors. For example, using a dark brown table cloth with bright white placemats or even a bright white table runner is quite appealing to the eye. You could use the same dark brown table cloth and instead of using whites, try pale, light blues. By having multiple layers on your table, such a table cloth, table runner, place mates, chargers and cloth napkins, creating a contrast in color can be done very easily.

Dress Up Your Dinnerware Set

Don't have a set of china to put out for Thanksgiving dinner? Don't worry! Forgo the formalness and use your basic dinnerware. Dress each place setting up by using a wide, broad decorative ribbon that can be wrapped around the plate. Or place a bold and rich colored dinner napkin on top of each place setting.

Bring in the Nature

Create beautiful centerpieces by using Autumn's finest accessories. Twigs and small branches can be turned into striking centerpieces by placing them in various vases that the table. Create your own cornucopia, by using colorful leaves and acorns as a base. Then use fresh produce, like apples, pears, or clementines to fill the rest of the cornucopia. Fill glass hurricanes with assorted gourds, pumpkins or squash to create rich and colorful table decorations.

Candles

Don't underestimate the power of candles. Their glow makes any table look stunning. Vary the size of the candles for a more impressive display. Use and mix up the variety of candles by using tall, wide pillars, thin tapers and even small votive candles. Set out ivory colored candles for a more classic and clean look or opt for rich, bold Fall colored candles in reds, burnt oranges and golds.

Want to impress your guests with more than just a well-executed meal? Set a table to match, using this easy cheat sheet.

* Set plates first to determine spacing (they should be about 2 feet apart from center to center) and the layout for the rest of your place settings.

* Arrange cups and glasses on the right side of the plate and butter and salad plates on the left.

* Silverware should be set in the order they will be used, starting from the outside working your way in. First course silverware will be on the outside and main course silverware will be on the inside.

* Set forks to the left of the plate (unless it's a small cocktail fork, which goes on the outermost right side of the plate) and knives and spoons (in that order) to the right. Flip knives so that the cutting edge faces the plate
