How to Make Hamburgers and Get Rave Reviews

Hamburgers are a favorite meal for many families. They are perfect for get-togethers, barbecues, special events, or any old occasion. But you do not want to serve your loved ones those frozen patties from the store. Even on the barbeque, they can turn into dry, hard, or rubbery chunks of meat that closer resemble a hockey puck than something you want to sink your teeth into. If you want to create a juicy, thick burger that has your family telling all the neighbors, there are a few things you need to prepare a tasty burger.

If you want to know how to make a perfect hamburger patty that will bring in rave reviews, you need to choose the best meat for the job. You want a meat choice that is going to be full of flavor, contains little fat, and still embodies a juicy, robust taste when biting into. Ground beef chuck, sirloin steak tips, or short ribs are the good choices when creating a mouth watering burger. If you do not have a butcher in your local grocery store that can grind the meat for you, you may want to look into purchasing a meat grinder or a food processor of your own.

Using organic ground beef, while more expensive, may be a more healthful choice. (You can rationalize the cost by eating less – and that is usually a good thing, also.)

If you are using a food processor you will need to chop the meat into small chunks and put them into your freezer to chill. If you place the pieces side by side on a baking sheet in the freezer until they are just firm but not frozen, you can then take them out and using the “pulse” option on your food processor, mix them up. When you create your patties, you want to remove any large chunks or grizzle. Be sure to refrigerate until ready to cook.

The less you handle the meat with your hands the better – for health and safety sake as well as for sparing the meat from being melted by the heat of your hands. Remember to avoid flattening the patty while cooking, as this too will make the patty denser and you will lose those yummy juices from within the meat. If you want to add more moisture for your burger, you can mince onions, mushrooms or mild chili peppers. Soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce are also a couple favorites for added some extra taste and moisture to your burgers.

Remember to spice up your burgers. Simple hamburger recipes include garlic and onion salt but almost any spice in your kitchen can be used depending on the taste you would like to deliver. When grilling your burgers, cook each side from two to four minutes. And that is how to make a hamburger your family will rave about.

Let your family top each burger with whatever condiments they like. Serve with a side salad, potato salad, or macaroni salad for a full hearty meal that will have your friends inviting themselves over to enjoy with you.

Once A Month Cooking – Hamburger Pasta Casseroles Freezer Meals

When it comes to cooking and baking, I love experimenting with once a month cooking. This type of cooking is when you spend a day or two making and baking up several meals for your family and then freezing them for future use.

This recipe will make 3 large casseroles that will each feed 8 people. They will keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. You will need three 9 x 13″ rectangular foil baking pans, that I like to pick up at our local dollar store or discount department store. After freezing, thaw the casserole in your refrigerator for 6-8 hours and then reheat in the oven for 20 minutes before serving.

Hamburger Pasta Casserole

4 lbs. lean ground beef
1 lb. thin sausage links, sliced into bite-sized pieces
2 cups onions, finely chopped
2 cups celery, finely chopped
1 1/4 cup green pepper, finely chopped
16-18 ounces pasta noodles
3 cans tomato soup
4 1/4 cups shredded American Cheese
12 ounce bottle chili sauce
1/4 cup pimento, chopped
2 teaspoons table salt
2 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups water
4 1/2 cups bread crumbs
1/4 cup butter, melted (not margarine)

In a very large frying pan, cook the lean ground beef, sausage links, onion, celery and green pepper until the ground beef is brown and no longer pink. Drain off fat. Cook your desired pasta noodles according to box directions, drain water and set aside. In a large stock pot, add your cooked pasta noodles and meat mixture. Stir in the tomato soup, cheese, chili sauce, chili powder, chopped pimento, salt, pepper and water.

Split the mixture up into 3 equal portions. Place mixture into each of your baking pans. In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs with melted butter. Sprinkle seasoned bread crumbs on top of the casserole mixture.

Bake casseroles in a 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes. Let completely cool before wrapping and freezing.

help Cooking Hamburgers?

I just asked a question about how long to cook hamburgers under the broiler.I was thinking about it and now am wondering what other cooking methods would be a good idea?thanks

pan fry. patty the meat out and place in the pan. (don’t make them too thick) you can add a little water if you want. let it cook on one side until the blood starts to show through. then flip it. when the blood shows through on that said, they are done. if you want cheese burgers and you want the cheese nice and melty, put a slice of cheese on each burger and put the lid on the pan and let it sit for about 30 seconds or until the cheese is as melty as you want it.

grilling also makes for a tasty burger.
the george foreman grills work well, but can get pretty messy if you have a very fatty meat. (but at least it helps drain that fat off!)

How Do You Cook Hamburgers On A Grill?

Dont you just love the flavor of a juicy fresh grilled hamburger? I know I do!

It is summer time No matter if it is fun in the park, fun at the beach, fun at the lake or fun by the pool at Grandmas house, we all want to picnic and have a good time. And the most popular of picnics include one of the many choices of hamburger recipes for the grill!

So how long do you cook hamburgers on a grill? What are good hamburger recipes for the grill? All great questions my friend! First things first though. You will want to get the grill ready. Go ahead and light up the charcoals, pop on the gas, or throw on the wood Regardless of the grilling method you use it needs to get hot and ready! What is important is nailing how long you cook hamburgers on the grill. Nothing ruins the fun more than a dry hockey puck you could choke on before you get to savor the flavor! Yuck! Did I mention YUCK?

There are several ways to keep this from happening so don’t despair. I like to patty out my burgers in a nice thick to inch patty. But before I do I like to doctor it up a bit. I add a little salt, pepper, adobo (for all of my Spanish friends), garlic powder or fresh garlic, some Worcestershire sauce and a touch of A-1 sauce. This adds a little kick to the flavor. I also find that it helps the hamburgers stay moist. Once all that is completed, doctor your grill a little. I brush a little canola oil on my grate to help keep them from sticking and I brush a little bit on the outside of my hamburger patties before I place them on the grill.

You need to be sure your grill is hot, but not too hot otherwise they will cook too fast and be done on the outside much faster than the inside. Then you have the whole new problem of burnt burgers! Not fun either! Once you place them on the grill you can leave them for about 10 minutes to go and cut up some nice onion, tomato and pickle slices. Put out your cheese, mayo, ketchup and mustard You want to have great condiments to put on your hamburger. And once done, those kids will go through them faster than you can get em ready!

So how long do you grill your hamburgers for perfection? I usually try and flip mine around 10 to 12 minutes, sometimes sooner It depends on how hot the grill is and how fast they are cooking, so keep a careful eye on them. Once both sides are good and even, test them with a meat thermometer to be sure they are cooked well. E-coli bacteria is so dangerous these days and when you are out on a picnic with beef, you want to be extra careful! The normal temp should get to at least 160 degrees. And then if you have friends who like them a little medium or medium rare, you have done your best to give them delicious AND healthy burgers.

Oh, and one of my favorite hamburger recipes for the grill are the all out gourmet burgers. This is for when you are home grilling and can get creative. Take a little bit of red wine some for the ingredients of the burger, (some for you!), some for the sauted onions, garlic and mushrooms, (some more for you!) and oh yeah some for your guest! Then serve your burger with a nice aged Swiss cheese and Kaiser or Onion roll, some mood music and candle light WOW, you wont be disappointed!

Portable LP (Hybrid) Grill took 30 min to cook hamburgers, is this normal?

I purchased a small portable propane (hybrid) grill from walmart, model HBT722W. It is supposed to be 10,000 BTU. The reason it is a hybrid is it uses propane to actually grill and has 4 small trays on the corners to place in charcoal or wood for your flavor. It said’s its supposed to ignite them however It didn’t really seem to do much.
I grilled with it one time and it took about 30 min to cook hamburgers. The temperature gauge only got to about 350. Does anyone else have this particular grill and know if this is normal for it? How long should hamburger patties take on this grill? I did not expect them to take anywhere near this long.

Cooking a burger is kinda like cooking a steak. If you cook a rare steak, it will not take as long as cooking a well steak.
