Convenient Healthy Cooking With a Health Grill

A health grill can cook beautiful food a lot quicker than conventional grilling. It doesn’t matter what you are cooking, anything from vegetables through to steaks, the health grill will become in indispensible part of your kitchen. George Foreman is the most popular brand of health grill, but it is by no means the only brand available. There are several others including some from all of the major kitchen appliance manufacturers.

In their most basic form, health grills are a pair of heated ridged metal plates which press down and cook the food from both the top and the bottom at the same time, not only cooking the food quicker but also more evenly. Part of what makes the food healthier and tastier is the fact that the bottom plate is angled towards the front of the machine. This means that the juices and the fat drip away from food and is caught in the drip tray.

There is a huge variety of health grills available on the market, every one is different, varying in both size and functionality, from the basic 2 portion grills to giant family grills. There are loads of different extra features available on select grills including floating hinges, removable plates and even a bun warmer!

The grill can be used for cooking all sorts of food including boneless meats such as bacon, burgers, sausage, steaks and chicken fillets, fish, vegetables…pretty much anything which can be cooked on a conventional grill! It is not recommended that you cook any meat which contains bones or meat that is thicker than 3cm.

Selected grills feature a floating hinge which makes it ideal for cooking thicker meat, melting food or creating toasted sandwiches and paninis. The floating hinge also allows you to cook everything from thin sliced bacon through to thicker chops and and large burgers.

The food is much healthier due to the way the food is cooked and also the fact that that plates are angled which causes the fat to drip away. So the food is healthier, but not only that, it cooks much quicker, looks better and best of all tastes far better than traditional cooking.

As a health grill can easily be stored away in a cupboard or large draw it makes them an extremely convenient way of cooking. It can be cleaned very easily, especially the grills with removable plates which allows the plates to be removed and put in the dishwasher. If you purchase a grill which doesnt have removable plates you can use a specially designed scraper to remove left over food and then a ridged sponge to clean them properly. Removable plates do make cleaning a lot easier, however they have a downside as well in that the food can take longer to cook and does not cook evenly across the plates.

Making the decision on which health grill you should be is not easy. The first consideration will always be how much food you need to cook at once. This will dictate the size of the grill you need. The second most important feature will be if you want removable plates or not. By now you should have a few grills to chose from. You can pick your perfect grill from these by looking at the extra features, brand name and value for money.

We are now doing the following:

1. At your grocery store, buy the sealed PRE-COOKED meats that come is small packages such as the following. You can make two or three meals out of them:

Beef tips with gravy,
Roast with gravy,
Pork roast,
Chicken,
Baked ham,
Pork chops,
Meatloaf,
etc.

Just heat in your microwave; directions are on the packages. You will find these packages in the cold section (not the freezer). Ask a clerk to help you find these. They are delicious.

Use these for your meat dish with a side dish or two of canned or frozen vegetables, beans, potatoes or sweet potatoes which can all be found on shelves or in the freezer section and they are already cooked.

You can now buy bags of different flavors of precooked rice that you put into your microwave for a minute or two. These are on shelves at the grocery store. We like the chicken flavored best of all. Have a clerk help you find them.

Real mashed potatoes that come in a bag…add water, butter, milk. Delicious. Read the directions.

Buy top brand cans of stew for each person. Serve with cornbread, crackers, or toast.

You can buy all types of salad greens in large packages now. Buy the ones that have been pre-washed. Add your own dressing which you can buy in bottles.

2. The top brands of microwave frozen dinners are very good now. These come in single servings or in family sized bags. Follow directions. Look for the words “No Preservatives” marked on the box or package.
Just add a canned or frozen vegetable as a side dish.

Top brands of dinners that are found on shelves. No fridge needed. Add water, microwave. These are good to take to school or work. Follow directions on the containers.

4. Supermarket deli’s have pre roasted chickens, fried chickens, roast beef, and side dishes. You can stop in on the way home and grab a quick dinner to take home. I buy their roasted chicken often…they are delicious.

5. Buy a crock pot. You put everything into the pot in the morning, set it on low for 8 hours, and your dinner will be ready for you when you come home in the evening! I kid you not. Be sure to read the instruction booklet.
There is a recipe booklet that comes with the crock pot. You can buy crock pots at places such as your grocery store, Walmart, and etc.
