Why is my lemon polenta cake too brown on the outside?

The top is fine because I followed the instructions and covered it with greaseproof paper after half an hour, but the sides and bottom are a bit too brown. Should I have used a better quality cake tin – mine is quite a cheap light one? Or should I have lined the tin with greaseproof paper? I cooked it quite slowly – 150C in a fan oven. The recipe said 140C but I knocked off 10C as it’s a fan oven. Too hot do you think?
What I meant was the recipe said 160C and I cooked it at 150C. I think it should have been 140C – why don’t fan ovens have accurate temperature controls?

I don’t think this is too hot, 150 should be fine. Next time sit the tin on a piece of folded up foil . Also make sure it is in the middle of the oven and not at the bottom.

Dining capsules
Tuscany hasn’t changed much since new owners took over last year. There’s still dinner-for-two plus a bottle of wine for $30, Monday through Thursday, caring service and a comfortable ambience.

Polenta - Traditional Italian. Fat free. Organic! Wheat free. Gluten free. History of Polenta: In Italy, Polenta is a versatile alternative to pasta, bread or rice, and is especially suited for meat dishes that have plenty of sauce. In northern Italy, it's as popular as pasta in the south. Traditionally, the first cooking step required stirring for 40-45 minutes in a copper kettle over a hot fire. Pre-cooked Polenta eliminates this tedious chore, while preserving Polenta's ancient Italian heritage. Ready to heat and serve. USDA Organic.
