Cooking Steak – How To Cook A Steak

One thing that you need to remember is that you need to cook a steak that is an inch thick because anything that is thinner than that will most likely dry out and anything that is thicker than that will make it very difficult for you to actually know the doneness of the steak. Rule of thumb dictates, that no matter what kind of cooking style that you are going to use, you need sprinkle the meat with a nice dose of salt and pepper so that you can realize all the flavor of the steal. You can also rub crushed garlic on the steak. This will truly enhance the flavor of it. Also, you can use a marinade, however; if you are a true steak lover, you will rub it with salt and pepper and you ready to do.

Frying steak is relatively easy. You just need to heat the pan to about medium heat and then pour around a teaspoon and a teaspoon and half for just a minute and then put it in the frying pan. You good size steak would cook for around four minutes or even less. It would highly depend on the doneness that you want. Also, it is advisable for you to power up your stovetop fan or just keep the pan that you are cooking in covered because cooking steak can be come a very smoky job.

Grilling is a very popular way to cook steak. It lets you enjoy the outdoors while cooking up a great big steak. In grilling, your barbecue needs to be really hot, around four hundred fifty degree Fahrenheit hot. Spread some lovely olive oil or regular oil if you want on the grills before you put your steak on it. Once the steak is on the grill, you can now reduce the heat to medium and then put down the lid. Cooking time is around four to five minutes on one side and the turn the steak over.

Should I risk cooking a steak which is very dark in colour?

I have defrosted a piece of steak but it is a very dark colour – not the usual red. Does this mean its ok to cook and eat or should I not risk it?

It’s actually a good sign when it’s dark! Steak that is red hasn’t been ‘aged’, and will have little taste. Red steak is a sign of cheap steak.

Dark steak has had time for the blood to break down and release flavours. It is often left to hang (age) for 4 weeks.

People think that keeping food in the freezer makes it inert; that’s wrong, it just ages more slowly. So your steak has probably aged slowly in the freezer, it will probably taste delicious.

If it was off, you would know, it would smell bad.

Recipes for Cooking Steak – Free Information Inside

When it comes to celebrations requiring good food, the presence of the steak on the table will not be left out. Important holidays are celebrated with steak, almost always accompanied by wine. How steak is cooked and served depends on the taste of the person preparing it. Since steak is very versatile, one can cook it any way he wants to. Terms associated with steak such as rare and well-done have been part of every food aficionado’s vocabulary.

But aside from the steak being half-cooked or well-done, how else can it be cooked? Here are some recipes for cooking steak which are very easy to do.

Beer-marinated Steak

This version is suited for people looking for an extra kick in their steaks. To prepare this, marinate the steaks in a mixture of beer, garlic, and brown sugar. After a few hours, dry the steaks and season with salt and pepper. Place the pieces in a pre-heated grill and cook for 5-10 minutes. To make this extra special, add some sautéed onions and mushrooms on top of the steaks.

Sirloin Steak

This is quite a popular variety of steaks. To prepare, brush the pieces of steaks with oil, salt and pepper. Cook in pre-heated oven for 5 minutes on each side. Leave the steaks longer to cook for well-done pieces. This may be served on top of baked potatoes.

Steak with Tomato Relish

To prepare, season the oil-brushed steak with salt and pepper. Coffee powder may also be added for a unique taste. Place the steak inside the oven with 100-degree Fahrenheit temperature. Set aside. Cut into pieces if desired.

To prepare the tomato relish, mix tomatoes, vinegar, jalapeno, parsley, salt and pepper to taste. Pour the relish on top of the steak.

Of course, steak works best with a little wine to set up the mood.

I am cooking steak and I have some red potatoes that are already cut up?

Whats the best way to cook the potatoes with the steak? The potatoes are ready made in a bag. Please help.

If they are not already, I’d suggest you blanche/parboil them to cook them most of the way (still firm, but not crunchy). Drain them, toss with 2 tablespoons olive oil, minced garlic (2 cloves), thyme leaf (TBP dry or 1/4C fresh, more is better than less), plus fresh cracked black pepper & kosher salt to taste.

Then throw them on the grill to brown and finish cooking. Brush them with a little of the oil to keep them from drying.

If you like, you can sprinkle some paprika and fresh parsley on the potatoes after you take them off the grill.

Source: chef. I love roasted red/new potatoes with olive oil, thyme, s&p. This works well in the oven too. Skip the blanching step. Just use raw pots, and cover the pan with foil. It’s quick, easy and oh so tasty!

Ranch Steak

Ranch Steak

$71.7

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Ranch steak comes from the chuck cut of a cow, namely the shoulder. Technically it is called a boneless chuck shoulder center cut steak, but supermarkets in an effort to get the patron a better sounding as well as an easier to remember name dubbed it the Ranch steak. A ranch steak is usually cut no thicker than one inch, weighs 10 ounces or less, and is usually trimmed of all excess fat. Since it is from the chuck primal, it is very flavorful, but it is a bit tough. It is best when it is braised, however it is excellent when grilled, broiled, or panfried if it is marinated first and if it is not overcooked. The best results are achieved if the steak is not cooked beyond medium when using dry heat cooking methods. Other names for this cut of meat include boneless chuck shoulder steak, shoulder center steak, cut steak, shoulder petite, and chuck clod arm roast.
