Tofu: What You Should Consume for Great Health
Tofu is one of the most popular foods in the world. The delicious and soft taste is unforgettable, especially when it is combined with spices. Besides giving great taste, it also gives many health benefits that of course make you love it even more.
Tofu came originally from Asia, and that is why it is called “Asian cheese”. It is made of cooked soya beans which are ground until they produce milk. There are two kinds of tofu we usually find in both traditional markets and supermarkets. They are silken tofu and firm tofu. The silken tofu has soft texture, while the firm tofu has a more solid form.
To get the best taste of tofu, you can use your creativity to cook it. It can be scrambled, baked, smoked, stir-fried, and pickled. For different taste, you can blend it with your favorite fruits in food processor and serve it as a dessert. Or you can scramble it with some vegetables and egg, then add some spices before frying it. You will get delicious tofu schotel! You can also find it easily in many vegetarian recipes since it is considered as the best substitute for meat.
This food contains high protein, high calcium, low saturated fats, and vitamin E. The calcium is good for those with osteoporosis, bone weakness, and rheumatoid arthritis. The level of calorie in tofu is less than many dairy products, so you can consume it as much s you like to cure those illnesses.
The healing process mentioned above is supported by isoflavones. The isoflavones are also useful in lowering rates of breast cancer and prostate cancer. For women, isoflavones help reduce menopausal symptoms. No need to sacrifice people around just because of mood swings.
Tofu can also help lower the level of LDL cholesterol and maintain the level of HDL cholesterol. It means that it helps reduce heart disease! For those feel unwell and need some foods which are easy to digest, this is the right choice. It is because during the manufacturing process, the fiber in soybeans is removed. Then, tofu is also a good source of iron. This substance helps people in the process of energy production. The iron also helps in transporting oxygen to all parts of your body.

Cooking Your Food With Moist Heat
The methods of cooking with moist heat, ie by means of water, boiling, simmering, steaming, dry steaming, and braising. In each of these processes, the effect of moist heat to food is entirely different from that of dry heat. However, the method to be selected depends very much on the amount of water that the food contains. For some foods much water should be added in the cooking process, for others, only a little or none. If food does not placed immediately in small or large amounts of water, is cooked by contact with steam or a utensil which is heated by placing in boiling water with one another, such as a double boiler.
If water is such an important factor in cooking with moist heat, something about the nature and use must be understood. Therefore, before consider the moist heat cooking process in detail, the role of water in the body and in the kitchen and the types of water are discussed.
Function of water in the body .– Water supplies no energy to the body, but it plays a key role in the diet. In fact, the specific function in the body to act as a solvent and a carrier of nutrition and waste material. In doing this work, keep the fluids of the body properly diluted, increases the flow of digestive juices, and helps you to lose runoff. However, its ability to perform these vital functions properly depends on the quality and safety.
Types of Water .– Water is hard or soft. If the falls from the clouds, it is pure and soft until it comes into contact with gases and solids that are fixed by him and change his character. It is certainly known that the last of the water that falls in a shower is much better than the first, if the first does not only clean the air, but the roofs and other things that it comes into contact. In passing through certain soil and over the rocks, water dissolves some of the minerals that have been recorded and is therefore changed from soft to hard water. If a sewer or water supply well, water is likely to contain bacteria, unfit and unsafe to drink until it is sterilized by boiling. Besides rain water and distilled water, there is none that completely soft, all other waters to keep certain salts in solution to a greater or lesser degree.
The quality of hardness, which is present in almost all the water is either temporarily or permanently. Water is temporarily hard as it contains soluble calcium, which is beaten down, that is separated, to cook. Every housewife who uses a teapot is familiar with this condition. The lime beaten down day after day, clinging to the sides of the ship where the water is boiled, and over time they become very thick-coated. Permanent hardness is caused by other calcium compounds that are not beaten down by boiling water. The only way to soften water is to add an alkali such as borax, soda or soda bicarbonate.
Use of water in the kitchen .– It is the solvent, or dissolving the force of the water that makes it useful in cooking liquid, but the two types, soft water is preferable to Hard as it possesses higher resolution. This is due to the fact that hard water has a certain amount of dissolved material and will therefore dissolve less of the food substances and taste when used for cooking purposes than soft water, that nothing has been resolved. It is known that the taste of these drinks as tea and coffee is often strongly affected by the use of hard water. Dried beans and peas, grains, and tough pieces of meat will not cook tender so easily in hard water as in soft, but the addition of a small amount of soda during the cooking of these foods will help to soften them.
Water is used in cooking especially for the extraction of flavor, as in making coffee, tea and soup, as a medium for the implementation of flavors in foods and beverages such as lemonade and cocoa, for the relief of both plant and animal fiber, and starch for cooking and solve sugar, salt, gelatin, etc. In many accomplishment of this work, the water acts as a medium for transporting heat.

Best ways to cook tofu for the first time, food / cooking?
I’ve looked a few recipes on the Web, but I was just to see if anyone has any favorites with tofu? Good to get used to and like tofu? What kind should I buy tofu? Is there a different kind of tofu stir fry versus saying it in a smoothie? I am also going to be cooking for my boyfriend too, no good ways to “slip” in the courts without him to notice?
